The key to success is to scan the main Icicle Light wire to find the source of your problem. First, confirm that you have the first non-working modern light bulb.

    Introduction: Repairing Holiday Garlands

So! Every year, you take a box of Christmas lights off the shelf, put it in your pocket, and work half as hard. Don’t throw them away, you can FIX them and it’s actually pretty easy! Just follow this recipe – it may not disappoint, but on the contrary, give great pleasure.

The very first thing you can do is take the group lamps and lay them out on the floor or on a comfortable table. Here I’m using a spreadsheet at TechShop Pittsburgh. A chain of lights dangles from the top left corner of the photo and rotates counterclockwise. The end is in the upper right corner of this photo.

In addition to the garland, you will definitely need spare light bulbs. We don’t know how much yet. Maybe you saved extra parts that might have been in the box last year, you’ll have to go and buy new ones. Alternatively, if you can have multiple lines, you can remove the lights from the o new string and use them to repair many other strings. (Yes.) [All flush lamps and the “unchecked” bowl, described below, should light up.]

NEW INFORMATION JANUARY Commentator 2022! “esbede” saw a source for LOTS of replacement bulbs –, HERE. Multiple voltages and multiple options in terms of quantity. Thank you, Esbede!

Step 1. SECRET TIP #1. Lamps Are Connected In Series And In Groups

During the BIG Christmas lights, a certain light bulb was on and it didn’t affect the neighbors. This is because all light bulbs are 110 volts and wired the same way. (Just like the individual lights in your home – each is independent of the other.)

These little guys are different. They were arranged (electrically) in “pieces” – several rows of incandescent lamps connected in series. (See photo.) Each bulb is clearly rated for low voltage, in this case 2.5 volts (AC). If you line up a row of 2.5V bulbs “in series”, they will share the voltage between them, as if you were holding your hands in poker. Block of ten lettersThe mp would probably work fine at 25 volts, the 40 bulbs could draw 100 volts and be fully on. If you turn one of these little guys down to 110 volts, or even 10 volts, it will burn out right away. *pfff*!

So! If you are suffering from a BIG string light, it has several of these parts. If you take the memory that comes with it, some parts may have ALL the lights working fine. (Happy happy!) Some tracks may only have a few burnt out lights. (Mech.) And some tracks may have ALL lights off. What’s going on here?

    Step 2. Secret Tip #2 – SHANT!

In contrast to conventional universal lamps, each of these lamps is equipped with an additional small motor. This is called a “shunt”. Looks like it’s connected to a fuse. The shunt is a HIGH resistance wire. When a light bulb is new, all the current goes through the path of least resistance, which is often the main filament, and almost all of them get a nice warm glow. No leakage through the shunt t current (high impedance). If the key filament jumps off, the gap has INFINITE resistance and the shunt can take over, allowing some electrical current to continue to flow through the lamp. (The shunt does not hiss enough to glow.) If the shunt is working properly, the other light next to this item should be on.

There are usually misdemeanors. Sometimes this shunt magic doesn’t “turn on”. This will break the circuit in the room he is in and all the lights in the room will go out.

    Step 3. Reflection And Fragmentation!

Okay, let’s go back and look at the big picture.

Why are half of my icicle lights not working?

If a small portion of the thread works and the other half does not, you almost certainly have a loose or broken lumen. Start with the first bulb off and move them down to make sure they are not loose. If it flashes, your signal is returned to replace it.

    (A) If any bulb lights up through the piece, it means all the bulbs are working fine, or they are burned out and their magic shunt was working fine. All of these lights are always “holding hands”, and the working electric current flows from the left end of the rack to the right end.

    (B) If all the lights in the store aren’t on, it’s very likely that one of the bulbs is burned out, but its shunt wasn’t working properly. There is a gap around the line – as if the “hands down” expert – and now the blow is not sinking. 🙁 All the other bulbs in this room will probably be ok, or maybe they need a little more padding. We can’t say. Not yet.

    Can icicle lights be fixed?

Introduction: holiday garland repair Every year, you usually take that Christmas light off the shelf, turn it on, and only half work. Don’t encourage them, you can FIX them and it’s actually pretty easy! In addition to the amount of garlands, you will probably need upgraded light bulbs.

However, the first thing to do is mark the property boundaries between the “fragments”. I use colored jewelry ribbon for this – in the photo you see a yellow ribbon. You can use a thread or some kind of tape, all or a few. We just want to split a large project into smaller pages. Divide and rule! The light of my line was four pieces.

Why is a section of my LED icicle lights out?

If one of your LED strings is not working, it might be due to a faulty light bulb. When the bulb dies, it can potentially stop the rest of the follicle from functioning. The only way to solve the problem is to find the faulty light bulb. It means shutdowneach light bulb instead of installing it with a good light bulb, let alone plugging it in.
